Looking for a coastal holiday in North Devon?  Ideal for walkers, families & those looking for dog friendly holiday cottages...Our group of self-catering holiday cottages are in the fine coastal countryside of North Devon’s Hartland Peninsula, a UNESCO designated area of outstanding natural beauty, less than 2.5 hours’ drive from Bristol, 1.5 miles from one of the most dramatic stretches of the South West Coast Path and close to Cornwall.

Our North Devon Holiday Cottages

Five of our cottages are conversions of 18th century stone farm buildings, around the former farmyard. The Dairy was once part of the farmhouse, where we live, and the Orchard is a detached, modern conversion of another outbuilding.

Tucked down a bumpy no-through lane, with views to the sea, the cottages are great for coastal country lovers, for South West coast path walkers and for amblers, for swimmers, cyclists, runners, relaxers, star-gazers and cream tea fanciers. And they work well for extended family groups holidaying together…

Ideal for extended family groups holidaying together; children are very welcome to run free in the picnic/play area and to help us feed the chickens and ducks; we can lend cots and high-chairs for younger ones.

Dogs welcome holiday cottages

And well-behaved dogs are welcome too, in most of the cottages.

What to do at Cheristow Cottages

Book the spa room with its hot tub and sauna and unwind after a day out...

Take a cross-country stroll through the woods to Hartland with its small shops, pubs and craft shops; head down to Hartland Quay for a pint at the Wreckers Retreat, and perhaps a high-tide dip…  come back to a barbecue and, often, a memorable sunset.

Walkers will love our location, ideal for exploring the South West Coastal path.

Things to do whilst staying at our coastal cottages

Perfect holiday cottages for walkers...Cheristow Cottages are in a great spot for walking dramatic nearby stretches of the South West Coast Path, for exploring wooded valleys and enjoying the flora and fauna of this protected area of the North Devon Biosphere.

For fans of country houses, gardens and tea rooms, Hartland Abbey House & Gardens are minutes’ away; the gardens at Docton Mill and Clovelly Court, a short drive and RHS Rosemoor 45-minutes’ drive.

Go swimming and surfing at Sandymouth, Bude, Westward Ho! and Northam. Cycle the Tarka Trail, go fishing and boating from picturesque Appledore and cobbled Clovelly; go riding, play golf, visit museums and craft galleries…

and for day trips further afield Port Isaac, Exmoor and Dartmoor are just over an hour’s drive; Padstow and the Eden Project half an hour more.
